To see just how much hospitals are overcharging, our team analyzed 2018’s Medicare data. We calculated how many times, on average, hospitals were charging above the Medicare allowable amount. We broke the data down state by state to see which ones administer the most expensive health care services. This can be seen in the picture above, which is a visual representation of this break down. The darker the blue, the costlier the service.
