We are a grassroots movement of doctors, nurses, students, business leaders, and everyday citizens from across the United States that are demanding a more honest and fair health care system.

WHY WE NEED YOUR HELP

Health care costs in the U.S. are out of control and everyday Americans are being left with more out-of-pocket expenses for their care. From 2000 to 2016, health expenses in the U.S. more than doubled from $1.4 trillion to $3.3 trillion. To manage these escalating costs, insurance companies are increasing the share patients are responsible for paying through increasing deductibles by an average of 303% from 2006 to 2017.

At the same time, patients are receiving more surprise hospitals bills due to out-of-network care, even within in-network hospitals. Low-income patients are particularly vulnerable to these billing practices, which may lead to financial hardship, bankruptcy, avoidance of future medical care, and potentially worse health outcomes.

OUR TEAM

Restoring Medicine was founded in 2018 when a groundswell of students, medical professionals, and everyday citizens rose up to demand enough is enough. The constant stories of price gouging by medical centers, predatory billing, and overcharging for medical services fueled a grassroots movement that is happening right now across the United States.

Our team creates resources to alleviate the escalating health care costs on American businesses, families, and individuals while simultaneously advocating for policy change to make our medical system more patient-centered.
